鐵寶兵俑的劍與胸甲

秦軍兵俑不戴頭盔。有專家說，「不戴頭盔是為了在戰場上顯出英勇的氣勢，可以壓倒敵人。」有專家說是因為當時「刀」還沒有大規模裝備部隊。當時的步兵武器主要是「刺殺武器」，如戟、劍。步兵作戰，長距離用「戟」，近戰用劍。因這些兵器大多用青銅製成，韌性差，砍殺時易折故多製成刺殺兵器。使用這些「刺殺武器」，攻擊的部位大多是胸、腹部，因此秦兵馬俑大都披有胸甲。因為作戰時頭部被「劈砍」的概率較小，普通秦軍士兵是不戴頭盔的。綜合漢朝軍隊的情況來看，不戴頭盔可能不是個別現象。
